What is Perchance?

Perchance is a platform for building and sharing generators: small web pages, each at its own perchance.org address, that anyone can make, copy and change. Its official community on Lemmy describes it as "a platform for sharing and creating random text generators." Perchance's terms name Perchance.org as the operator of the site, and its developer, who posts as perchance, moderates that community and answers bug reports there.

Perchance's AI pages are generators too, built on its AI text and image plugins. These are the main ones, and every one of them is titled free, with no sign-up:

How to use Perchance AI online on a PC or phone

Perchance is a website, so a Windows PC, Mac, Chromebook and phone all use it the same way.

1. Open the page you want, such as perchance.org/ai-character-chat, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
2. Start typing. AI Character Chat opens with Chloe ready to talk, while the story generator and the AI RPG start from a prompt you write.
3. Stay in the same browser. Perchance keeps your chats, characters and stories in that browser's storage, not in an online account.
4. Export a backup regularly. Clearing site data for Perchance deletes what's stored, and an export is how you restore it or carry it to another device.

On a phone, the same pages run in Safari or Chrome. To open one like an app, add it to your Home Screen: in Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; in Chrome open the menu and choose Add to Home screen.

Perchance login: do you need an account?

No. Perchance's AI pages work without a sign-up or login, as their titles say. Accounts are optional and are there for people who build and save their own generators. Logging in doesn't move your chats into an account: Perchance's developer has said AI requests are anonymous whether you're logged in or not, and AI Character Chat keeps your chats in the browser either way. The one difference, according to the Perchance AI FAQ linked from Perchance's forum, is that the ads funding the AI pages show only to visitors who aren't logged in.

Perchance AI chat and character chat

"Perchance AI chat" and "Perchance character chat" usually mean AI Character Chat, which titles itself "online, free, no sign-up, unlimited." You can talk straight away to its default character, Chloe, whom the page sets up as a warm and friendly assistant, or build your own.

A Perchance character is a set of text fields: a description of who they are, a short reminder note, initial messages that set the opening scene, and an optional lorebook of short facts. With summaries switched on, the character writes its own memories as the chat goes on, and the /mem and /lore commands open their editors. You can bring several characters into a group chat, share a character by link and import Tavern PNG character cards. The AI Chat & Roleplay page offers a simpler chat on the same AI.

Perchance story generator and AI RPG

"Perchance story" usually means one of two pages. The AI Story Generator writes a long story from your prompt, paragraph by paragraph:

1. Describe what the story should be about, or leave the box empty. The prompt can hold characters, a writing style, world lore or a genre.
2. Generate, and the AI writes the next stretch. You can edit the text as you go.
3. Steer it with What should happen next?, or set the next major event in the story arc.
4. Save a share link or export the story when you're done.

The AI RPG is a text adventure with the AI as game master, "kinda like AI Dungeon" in its own description. You say who you are and what the adventure is about, then type your move in the box that asks What will you do next? A notes panel keeps track of anything you want the AI to remember, from NPCs and quests to time of day and reputation. Both pages save to your browser's storage, so export often.

Perchance AI image generator

Perchance's AI Image Generator, titled "free, no sign-up, unlimited," turns a text prompt into images in your browser. Perchance's AI FAQ says the only images kept on its servers are the ones you post to the gallery, so download the ones you want before you regenerate. If those pictures are of characters you want to talk to, a Teasa Story puts a written cast in front of you instead of a blank prompt.

Is there a Perchance app?

No official one. Perchance runs in the browser, and no app in the App Store or Google Play comes from Perchance. Searches for "perchance" in both stores turn up image-generator apps with Perchance in their names from other developers, such as Perchance AI Image Generator from Black Hat LLC on Google Play. They are separate products, not Perchance's own pages, so the reliable way in is perchance.org in your browser, added to your Home Screen if you want an icon.

Teasa has its own apps: iPhone and iPad on the App Store, Android on Google Play and Windows on the Microsoft Store, alongside teasa.ai in any browser.

Is Perchance free?

Yes. Each main AI page is titled free, no sign-up and unlimited, and Perchance sells no plan. Its AI FAQ explains how the AI is paid for: ads at the bottom of the screen on generators that use the AI plugins, shown only to visitors who aren't logged in. Perchance itself has always been ad-free, and only generators that import the AI plugins carry ads. The same FAQ says there's no way to donate directly, and that an ad blocker can stop AI pages from working.

Teasa is free to play too, and DMs with any Character are free and unlimited on a free account. The paid plans are optional and listed in the Teasa section below.

Perchance age rules and content

Perchance's terms of service, last updated on 18 July 2026, say its services are intended for users who are at least 18 and that anyone under 18 may not use or register for them. Its AI FAQ describes the text and image models as largely unfiltered, with patterns that block content illegal in most jurisdictions. In October 2026 Perchance began rolling out an automated moderation system that puts a content warning in front of some community generators, and its developer asked creators on Lemmy to report false positives.

Teasa is for ages 13 and up. Its Stories are written in the register of the romance and fantasy novels on a library shelf, and every Story in the catalog is reviewed before it's published.

Is Perchance down?

Perchance's AI Character Chat, story generator, AI RPG and image pages share the same AI plugins, so when replies stop on one page they usually stop on all of them.
