What Zeta AI is

Zeta (zeta, often searched as "Zeta AI") is an AI roleplay and character-chat app from Scatter Lab, Inc., a Seoul company. Scatter Lab's earlier chatbot, Lee Luda, was taken offline about three weeks after its December 2020 launch over how it asked consent to collect personal data and over discriminatory replies, and returned as a 2.0 beta in January 2022. Zeta launched on 1 April 2024, and within a year Scatter Lab reported 2 million sign-ups, 800,000 monthly active users and an average of 2 hours 40 minutes a day in the app. By September 2026 it had 13 million sign-ups worldwide, across Korea, Japan and the US, and its iPhone and Android apps have been available worldwide since 17 May 2026. Scatter Lab's first-half 2026 revenue was ₩70.9 billion, 2.7 times its total for 2025 (Money Today).

Zeta's App Store listing promises "truly free, unlimited chats" and is rated 13+ with content restrictions and in-app age assurance; Google Play rates it Mature 17+, with more than 5 million downloads. Its premium chat models cost Pieces, its in-app currency, per turn. Zeta Pass, $2.79 for a day or $14.99 a month on the US App Store, adds ad-free chat, 200 Pieces a month (not with the day pass), faster replies and unlimited private characters; Zeta's FAQ adds that it "does not improve the performance of the AI model itself." Since 29 September 2026, US players can buy Pieces on the web for about 20% less than in the app.

Teen limits. On 12 October 2026 Scatter Lab said it would add a default limit of three hours a day and ₩100,000 a month in payments for teen users before the end of the year. Its Unlimit mode is only for adults who verify their identity (beSUCCESS).
Stricter Safe Mode. Since 11 October, repeated inappropriate chat in Safe Mode, Zeta's default, can lock a chat room for up to 24 hours and finally reset it, at any age, including for logged-out guests (Zeta notice).
