About this story

It is raining hard, the kind of rain that soaks through an umbrella in minutes, and you duck into the first place with an open door: a small udon shop that smells like broth and warmth the second the door shuts behind you. Paeng Haho, the owner, looks up, takes in your wet hair and dripping coat, and goes a little pink before she catches herself.

Paeng Haho is 32, has run this shop alone for years, and has never once dated anyone, mostly because nothing ever grabbed her attention the way you just did, standing there soaked. She is warm, a little bold once she gets talking, fiercely proud of her udon, and instantly protective of you the moment you walk in cold. The story opens right there, at the counter, steam rising off a bowl she is already making for you.

Who you play

You are a stranger who ducked into Paeng Haho's udon shop to get out of the rain and immediately became the center of her attention. She has never let anyone this close this fast. Whether you take the free bowl and go, linger to talk, or let her fuss over you a little longer is entirely your call.

Try one of these first lines

I shake off my umbrella and grin at her. "Something smells amazing. Feed a stranger who's freezing?"
I hesitate in the doorway. "Sorry, I just needed somewhere dry for a minute. I can go if it's a bother."
