What is Kindroid?

Kindroid is an AI companion app where you create a personal AI character with its own name, personality, backstory, appearance and voice. Kindroid calls these characters Kins, and its home page sums one up as "your AI friend who listens, remembers, and grows with you everyday". You can build a Kin from scratch or start from one the community has made, then chat by text, talk on real-time voice calls and see it on live video calls, where it lip-syncs, gestures and reacts in real time. A Kin can search the internet, open links, see the images you send and, if you allow it, message you first.

Kindroid is run by Beautifully Incorporated of Los Angeles, the company named in its terms of use and as the seller on the App Store. A 2024 ElevenLabs case study names Jerry Meng as Kindroid's founder and CEO, and Kindroid's home page counts more than 4 million downloads.

How to use Kindroid online or on a PC

Kindroid's web app runs at kindroid.ai in the browser on a PC, Mac, Chromebook or phone, with nothing to install, and its help center lists voice and video calls on desktop web as well as in the apps. Since 1 October 2026 the V2 interface is the only version of Kindroid; the older V1 interface is retired. V2 offers more than 40 interface languages.

1. Open kindroid.ai and choose Log in / Sign up.
2. Sign in with an email code, Google or Apple. A new account then asks for the name your Kin should call you (up to 30 characters), a confirmation that you're 18 or older, your gender and, if you have one, a gift code.
3. Create your first Kin by choosing its name, appearance and personality, then send your first message.

Sign in with the same method on the website and in the apps to reach the same account, so you can start on a computer and carry on from your phone.

Kindroid login

1. Open kindroid.ai or the Kindroid app and choose Log in.
2. Choose Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, or enter your email address to get a sign-in code. Continue with Apple appears on the web and in the iOS app.
3. Enter the 8-digit code from your inbox within 15 minutes. After 5 wrong codes within 15 minutes, Kindroid shows "Too many attempts. Try again later", so wait before you request another.

If the Google and Apple buttons are missing and Kindroid shows Open in your browser, you opened the link inside an app such as Instagram or TikTok: copy kindroid.ai into Chrome or Safari instead. A pop-up blocker or browser extension can stall web login, and a private window gets around it. New accounts can't use an email address with a + in it. You can change your account email once every 7 days, and Profile > Preferences > Export data downloads your Kindroids, chat history, journal entries and selfies. Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription, so cancel that separately first.

Is Kindroid down?

Kindroid runs its own status page, Kindroid Status, which shows the current state of each part of the service: the language model, selfies, video selfies, voice, calls, the website, the Android app, the iOS app and Kindroid Social. It also lists scheduled maintenance and past incidents, subscribers can send a quick report from the page, and signed-in users can sign up for status emails. Is there a Kindroid app?

Yes. Kindroid: Your Personal AI is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. Google Play's listing covers long-term memory, selfies and video selfies, real-time voice calls, live video calls, group chats and Rooms, and says the app has no ads and that some features require a subscription.

In the US App Store, the Kindroid Subscription starts at $15.99 a month; the full price list is below. Kindroid says buying on the web is usually cheaper than through the App Store or Google Play, and a subscription bought on one platform has to run out before you can start one on another.

Is Kindroid free? Plans and prices

Kindroid is free to try, not free to keep chatting. A new free account gets a one-time preview: 50 messages with the memory of the Standard plan (15 in some regions), five selfies, 5,000 audio credits for voice on messages and up to two Kindroids. Regenerating a reply, continuing one and using a message suggestion each count as half a message. When the preview is used up, the account becomes read-only: you can view, play back, export and delete everything, but you can't send messages, regenerate, make calls or receive proactive messages.

New users can also start a 3-day premium trial with most subscriber perks, including multiple Kindroids, group chats, more selfies and custom voices. The trial needs a payment method on file and turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel within the three days.

Ultra and MAX stack on top of Standard rather than replacing it, so all three together come to $113.97 a month in the App Store. Extras need an active subscription or trial: in the App Store, 50 selfie credits cost $6.99, 100 cost $11.49, an extra Kindroid slot $3.49, four slots $11.49 and 500,000 audio credits $14.99. Kindroid shows the exact price for your country and platform at checkout, and the web is usually the cheaper place to buy.

Cancel a web subscription in Profile > Billing, and an app subscription in your phone's settings. Kindroid's help center says it generally doesn't offer refunds and that all sales are final, and its terms say paid services can't be ended before the end of the period you've already paid for.

Kindroid age rules

Kindroid is for adults only. Its terms of use, updated 6 October 2026, say the service is only for people who are at least 18 or the age of majority where they live, whichever is greater, and every new account confirms it is 18 or older during setup.

Its age verification guide, updated 9 October 2026, adds checks on top. Kindroid estimates from how an account is used whether it is likely to belong to someone under 18, and a flagged account sees only the age verification screen until it is cleared. A paid subscription counts as verification. Otherwise you verify with Yoti, either with a selfie, which passes when Yoti estimates you are 21 or older, or with a government ID, and Kindroid receives only the result. Kindroid's FAQ describes it as "a neutrally aligned, unfiltered AI". The App Store rates the iPhone app 18+, and Google Play rates the Android app Mature 17+.
