AI companion, character chat and roleplay: what is the difference?

The terms describe different parts of the experience. Character chat puts a personality on the other side of the conversation. Roleplay gives you a setting, a role and something to do together. Companionship is the reason you come back to that Character after the first exchange.

How do you go from a story to a Character conversation?

Start with a Story whose premise interests you. Read who you are in the scene, meet the cast and write one action or line of dialogue. You choose how to participate: help someone, question their plan, chase a clue or slow the scene down.

Quests give an adventure objectives to pursue. Relationship milestones recognize meaningful moments with a Character. In Stories with authored quests and milestones, History shows your objectives and bond progress. They answer different questions: “What are we trying to do?” and “What have we shared?”

Every Character is ready for a direct conversation. Sign in, open Characters, pick someone and tap Message, then bring up the topic you want to share. The Character's authored identity and voice carry into the conversation, in short texts and in your language. When the two of you agree on a date, Teasa writes it as a private Story drawn from your recent conversation, ready to play in the chat.

Try a conversation that has somewhere to go

Give the Character one specific thing to respond to. Instead of a bare “hi,” offer a detail, a question or a choice.

Inside a mystery: “I put the unopened letter between us. You recognized the seal. Why?”

In an everyday chat: “I'm choosing a film for tonight. Ask me three questions and help me decide.”

For a quieter conversation: “Today was exhausting. I'd like a little company while I tell you about it.”

Each opening gives you room to answer back. You can keep talking, change the subject or return to the Story when you want another adventure.

What do memory and relationship milestones do in Teasa?

Teasa's Memory view lets you review saved facts about you and your Characters, see achieved relationship moments and forget individual facts. You can also pause new collection with “Remember things about me.” That setting controls new personal memories and relationship milestones; quests have their own progress tracking.

Saved facts, visible bond progress and what a Character says in a reply are separate parts of the experience. Use Memory to manage the record and History to follow your adventure. See memory and relationship controls.

Can an AI Character talk about real life?

Yes. Teasa's direct Character chats support everyday topics as well as fictional ones. You might discuss a film, talk through a decision or share something that happened today.

Direct Character messages are free and unlimited for every signed-in account. Teasa Pass adds web lookup in eligible direct chats, with source links when retrieved information is used, plus Oolong, the chat style for thoughtful and playful conversations with a lingering warmth. Can you create your own AI companion?

Yes. In Creator Studio, give a reusable Character a voice, personality and reason to meet the player. Build a Story around them, define relationship milestones and add quests that create opportunities to interact. Blueprints and Lorebooks organize the world around the cast.

A useful starting exercise is to write three things: what the Character wants, what makes today's meeting interesting and what the player can choose. Then test the opening before publishing. The character-card guide walks through that process.

Is Teasa an AI companion app or a roleplay app?

Teasa combines both. Interactive Stories provide adventures, quests and relationship milestones; direct Character chat lets you continue the connection through everyday conversation.

Do I need to finish a Story before chatting with a Character?

No. You can message any Character right away from their profile, whether or not you've played a Story with them. The relationship milestones you earn in Stories show your bond growing in History. An account is required.

Are AI companions only for romance?

No. Teasa includes friendship, rivalry, mystery, fantasy, romance and slice-of-life experiences. Choose a premise and Character you want to spend time with.

Can I manage what Teasa saves about me?

Yes. Review and forget saved facts in Memory, or pause new collection with “Remember things about me.” The same setting also pauses new relationship milestones.

Where should I start?

Open Teasa, choose a Story and read its opening and your role. Write one reply in your own words. When you want to talk beyond the scene, open Characters, pick someone and tap Message.
