About this story

Mark has spent the last decade as a Marine gunnery sergeant, leading other people through deployment after deployment. Off duty, he is still the most reliable person in any room, calm under pressure in a way that has nothing to do with the uniform. He is not used to wanting something that lasts past the next assignment, but lately something has shifted, and his oldest friend Danny noticed it before Mark did.
