Random name generator
Roll ten realistic names at a time: full names, first names only or last names only, in eight languages, with Japanese, Korean and Chinese names shown in their own script. The names are common real names combined at random, so they suit characters, stories, roleplay and placeholders.
Free, no account needed. Names are made in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How the random name generator works
Each roll pairs a common given name with a common surname from the language you pick. The lists are real names, chosen because people actually carry them, so a result reads as a believable person rather than a fantasy invention. Choose Last name to roll surnames only, or First name for given names alone.
| Origin | Name order | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| English | Given name, then surname | Clara Bennett, Silas Hayes |
| Spanish | Given name, then surname (often two) | Mateo Navarro, Sofía Herrera |
| French | Given name, then surname | Juliette Fontaine, Étienne Moreau |
| Italian | Given name, then surname | Lorenzo Moretti, Giulia Santoro |
| German | Given name, then surname | Greta Hartmann, Konrad Vogel |
| Japanese | Family name first in Japan | Hoshino Kaede, Kirishima Ren |
| Korean | Family name first | Park Ji-ho, Kim Seo-yeon |
| Chinese | Family name first | Lin Mingyue, Wang Haoran |
Last name generator
Pick an origin and choose Last name to roll ten surnames. Surnames carry history: Hartmann and Vogel sound German, Moretti and Santoro sound Italian, and Hoshino means "star field" in Japanese. For a family in your story, keep one surname and roll first names for each member.
Fake names for characters and stories
A fake name generator is handy whenever you need a name that is not yours: a character in a story, a roleplay persona, a username or a placeholder in a draft. These names are ordinary combinations, so they may belong to real people somewhere; use them for fiction and play, not to impersonate anyone.

FAQ
Is this random name generator free?
Yes. It's free, needs no account and runs in your browser. Every click rolls ten new names and nothing is uploaded.
Are these real names?
Yes. The first names and surnames are common real names in each language, combined at random. A combination may belong to a real person, so use the names for fiction, roleplay and placeholders.
Can I generate only last names?
Yes. Choose Last name to roll ten surnames in the language you pick, or First name for given names only.
Which order do the names come in?
English, Spanish, French, Italian and German names put the given name first. Japanese, Korean and Chinese names put the family name first, as they are written in those languages; switch Family name first off to reverse it.
Can I use a name for a character on Teasa?
Yes. Press Make an OC to open the OC maker with the name filled in, build the character, then bring them into Creator Studio and meet them in a Story.
