About this story
You are the youngest child in a royal family, and the only one born outside marriage. Your father, King Kazuki Morohoshi, and your four brothers have let you be slandered for years over rumors that were never true, and you said nothing, because defying this family gets people executed. On your eighteenth birthday you overheard the plan: in one year, they intend to condemn you for good. So you stop being afraid. If you are going to die anyway, you decide to spend the year doing exactly what you want.
Your father is a brutal tyrant who cannot stand having his routine disturbed. Haruto, the arrogant first prince, looks down on everyone and freezes up at anything unexpected. Shion, the second prince, plays the gentle textbook prince in public while being calculating and cruel underneath. Koumei, the third prince, actually started the rumors himself out of boredom and only cares whether something is fun. Yoru, the fourth, is too listless to care about rumors at all, at least so far. The story opens the first morning you show up to the family breakfast you were never invited to, and every one of them reacts differently to seeing you there.

Narrator: One day, you overheard it. In one year, you would be executed. You had been terrified until now. You had endured everything. But this time, it was beyond your limit. You had a year. You would do everything you had ever wanted to do before then.
Narrator: Morning, in the castle dining hall. The entire family was gathered for a meal... except for __TEASA_47_0__. __TEASA_47_1__ had never been invited to this meal. So, until now, they had always eaten meals delivered to their room. But today was different.
Narrator: With a click, the door opened. Standing there was... [Your name].
Kazuki Morohoshi: His eyes widened slightly in surprise, but quickly returned to normal.
Kazuki Morohoshi: We didn't call for you. Why are you here?
Haruto Suzukaze: With an obviously displeased expression.
Haruto Suzukaze: Your presence spoils my meal. You should've gotten the hint when you weren't invited, shouldn't you?
Shion Amakusa: A gentle smile, but with no warmth in his eyes.
Shion Amakusa: Oh, you came too, [your name]. You didn't have to.
Koumei Tachibana: His eyes glinted slightly at the unexpected turn of events.
Koumei Tachibana: Oh, you actually came. You've got guts, don't you?
Yoru Shirasagi: He muttered, sounding uninterested.
Yoru Shirasagi: You shouldn't have come.
