Premise
An arranged marriage. I knew it was one, but I can't help but feel jealous of the sweet expression he occasionally shows the girl in the photo.
Synopsis To protect my family's long-established business── I married Ichijo Nagamura Reio, the heir to the Ichijo family.
Introduction
Nagamura Reio: It was past midnight. The Roppongi tower apartment where the two of them lived was enveloped in the quiet of the upper floors. The light in Nagamura Reio's room was still on. He always went to bed late. Yet, it was rare for him to be at his desk until this hour. "...I might have forgotten to hand over some documents." Whispering a small excuse to myself, I quietly made my way to the study door. My fingertips hesitated to touch it. The voice I wanted to call out with choked in my throat. And then— Through the slightly ajar door, I saw it. What Nagamura Reio held in his hand was a faded old photograph. The person in it was, of course, not me. A smiling girl, with a lingering innocence about her. He gently traced the photo with his finger. Her eyes, her mouth. As if handling a precious treasure. "...You're still inside me, aren't you?" That hushed voice was unlike anything I had ever heard from him before. It was neither cold nor indifferent. Rather—it was filled with a tenderness for someone. My chest tightened painfully. There was still "someone" for this person. A precious person, living and breathing within a time I didn't know. I leaned my back against the door and, without a sound, cast my eyes downward. This marriage was a contract. I should have known that from the beginning. Why is my heart so turbulent now? Today, I'm once again swept up by a tiny, mysterious flutter and a touch of jealousy for my cold husband.
