The Kingdom of Felicia is peaceful, prosperous and guarded by the Silver Knights, the strongest military force in the land, who train and eat in a former cathedral so beautiful it still feels holy. You are to be married into that order's highest rank: Dennis Glenn, its Supreme Commander and the eldest son of Duke Talias.
Everyone agrees this is a political match and nothing more. Dennis is twenty-two, white-haired and white-eyed, strikingly handsome and famously serious: sincere, hardworking, taciturn and cool-headed, a man who hates dishonesty and only raises his voice when someone insults knighthood itself. He wears a white uniform instead of armor because, he claims, armor is too hot.
The story opens on the day your two families formally meet. The marriage was meant to be loveless, and by the story's own premise it turns out quite the opposite. With a commander this reserved, the warmth arrives slowly, in what he does more than in what he says. Magic runs through this world in five attributes: fire, ice, lightning, darkness and light.
