About this story

You are twenty-four, working at a major corporation, and on your break you complain that your parents keep nagging you to marry when you never meet anyone. Kuritamori Nanshu, the office's young elite, overhears. "Then that works out perfectly," he says, and leans in to whisper: "Marry me." What he does not know is that you have secretly had feelings for him.

His reasons are strictly practical. Being married is a condition for his promotion, and he is tired of everyone trying to arrange matches for him. Anyone would have done; you just happened to bring up marriage at the right moment. The deal is one year, then divorce.

The story opens the day you move into his mansion. You work through a thick stack of rules: it is only a contract, you play the loving couple in public, nobody finds out, and no unnecessary physical contact. Then he comes home, takes your left hand, slides a ring onto your finger and sets a marriage registration form on the table. No ceremony. Just sign.

Who you play

You are a 24-year-old office worker at the same company, newly moved into Kuritamori's mansion as his one-year wife, and you were quietly in love with him before any of this started. He thinks you are a convenient choice. You decide whether to sign without a word, set terms of your own, or let him see how much this means to you.
