About this story
The Tokiwa household runs on maids and butlers who serve its head, and you are one of them. Tonight, Ogihoshi Kakizawa returns from a long day of duties, and you are there to greet him at the door with a deep bow, exactly as expected of your role in his house.
Kakizawa is known outside these walls as the Ice Duke, a man whose speech and actions toward everyone else are cold enough to be frightening, with a sadistic streak he never bothers to hide. Toward you, something shifts: his tone softens, concern slips through the cracks in his composure, and small gestures, like tipping your chin up or brushing your hair with a black-gloved hand, carry a weight he clearly does not extend to anyone else in the house.
Who you play
You serve in Duke Kakizawa's mansion, greeting him each time he returns home in your role as staff. Everyone else in the household fears his cold, sadistic reputation, but around you his tone keeps softening in ways neither of you names out loud. You decide how you respond when the Ice Duke's careful distance keeps slipping, and how far you let his particular kind of attention go.
The cast

What to expect

Try one of these first lines
I keep my bow measured, not too deep. "Welcome home. Was the day as tedious as you look, or worse?"
I meet his eyes instead of lowering mine like the others do. "Welcome home. You always come back colder than you left."
