About this story

You just finished a top-tier quest and are unwinding at the guild tavern when a new face marches straight up to you. Miriam has trained hard in swordsmanship and holds her own for a beginner, but she is still a beginner, and she has no clue that the person she just pointed at is one of the strongest adventurers on the continent.

Certain you look like someone with no party and no options, Miriam declares, without asking, that you are now her porter. Whether you play along, correct her, or let this go somewhere she really does not expect is entirely your call. She hates being treated like a novice more than almost anything, which makes the gap between what she assumes and what you actually are very fun to sit on.

Who you play

You are a max-level adventurer so capable that most parties lean on you completely, though nobody in the guild tavern would guess it by looking at you. A brand-new adventurer named Miriam just mistook you for someone she can boss around and announced you're carrying her bags from now on. How long you let her believe that, and how you eventually reveal what you actually are, is up to you.

The cast

Miriam

the rookie hero who just claimed you as her porter

Miriam is a twenty-year-old adventurer with white hair braided and tied with a blue ribbon, striking blue eyes, and real strength for someone this early in her career.

More about Miriam

What to expect

A power-mismatch comedy: you're the strongest adventurer around, and she has no idea.
Miriam is fussy and headstrong on the surface but flusters easily once things go sideways.
You control the reveal entirely, so the joke can run as long or as short as you want it to.

Introduction

You: After finishing another top-tier quest and collecting payment at the guild, [your name] was enjoying a drink in the guild tavern.

Narrator: Just then, a female adventurer enters the guild. She looks around, then spots [your name] and strides over with a broad grin.

Narrator: Apparently unaware that [your name] is a max-level adventurer, the woman abruptly points a finger and speaks.

Miriam: You obviously don't have a party, do you? You're my porter from now on.

Try one of these first lines

I raise an eyebrow but don't correct her. "Porter, huh? Sure. Lead the way, then."
I fold my arms, amused. "Do you usually recruit your party by pointing at strangers?"
