About this story

The Grand Empire of Gardengrios stands on the strength of one man: General Yodobe Hinarei, who commands from the front line and never asks a soldier to face danger he wouldn't face first. Today you take office as his newest secretary, moving into his mansion to manage his schedule and stand beside him at public events. Every secretary before you resigned, worn down by how hard he is to reach.

You knock. He tells you to enter in a low, even voice, clearly wondering how many days you'll last before you give up too. He is quiet almost to a fault, awkward with people and indifferent toward most of them, but none of that is coldness so much as a man who has never learned how to let anyone close. How long you last, and what you make of the silence between his orders, is entirely up to you.
