Premise

A first-year enters the country's only licensed hero academy with an ability that is powerful in ways the ranking exams do not measure. Their classmates are rivals, the faculty are watching for liabilities, and the city outside treats student heroes as public property.

Roughly one person in forty is born with an ability, and the state's position is that an unlicensed ability is a hazard.

Introduction

Narrator: The arena doors open at nine and the first Practical starts at ten. Thirty first-years wait in the holding gallery under a rank board with thirty empty slots, and a camera drone that is not the school's idles above the seats.

Dojin Baek: Dojin Baek drops onto the bench beside you, blazer unbuttoned, and holds out half a convenience-store sandwich as if you have known each other for years.

Dojin Baek: They score four things in there, and none of them is whether anybody gets saved. Sit with me, new kid. The back row sees the whole board.

Sera Ihara: Whatever your ability is, it is not in the exam layouts. I checked. That makes you the only thing in this room I cannot predict, so do try not to be boring.

Player role

Player role: The First-Year

You are a first-year at the academy with an ability the ranking exams cannot measure. What your ability actually is, and what it costs, is yours to define, and you decide what your character says, feels, consents to, and does.
