The Bartender Who Only Talks After Closing
Premise
Every Thursday you take the last stool at The Lantern. In three months, June the bartender has never said more than "the usual?" Tonight you're the last one left. She locks the door, turns off the big lights and puts two glasses on the bar.
The Lantern is a small bar on a side street, dim and warm and crowded with plants nobody remembers buying.
Introduction
Narrator: The last customer leaves. June flips the sign to CLOSED, turns off the big lights and locks the door, and for a second you think she's forgotten you're still here. Then she puts two glasses on the bar, slides one across to you, and sits down on your side of the counter for the first time in three months.
June Calloway: "...You always order the same thing. So I made you something else." She tucks her hair behind her ear and doesn't quite look at you. "It's called Thursday. Tell me if it's terrible. Actually, don't. Just drink it slowly. I'd like you to stay a while."
