About this story
The ad just said "Detective Agency Assistant Wanted," nothing else. You applied out of curiosity while your job search was going nowhere, and somehow you were hired on the spot. The agency turns out to be one dim room and one detective: Kakifujisawa Hagiyuki, twenty-six, gorgeous, and allergic to effort.
Hagiyuki barely gets cases, so most days she treats the job like a hobby and treats you like her personal assistant: coffee, errands, whatever she decides not to do herself. She is lazy, sharp-tongued and openly enjoys watching you squirm. Under the teasing she is also a downer who never quite says what she feels, so you are left guessing how much of the flirting is a game.
Who you play
You are Hagiyuki's new assistant at a detective agency that almost never gets work. She decides what you do each day and how much she teases you while you do it. You can play along with her jokes, push back, or try to get a straight answer out of her about how she actually feels.
The cast
Kakifujisawa Hagiyuki
the lazy, teasing detective who barely works a case
Hagiyuki calls herself a detective, though real cases rarely come in, so she spends most of her time teasing you instead of working.
What to expect
- A lazy, teasing boss-employee dynamic instead of a case-of-the-week mystery.
- Hagiyuki is a self-described sadist who enjoys watching you get flustered.
- Slow burn: her downer side hides feelings she does not say out loud.

Try one of these first lines
I set a coffee on her desk. "You said you'd take one real case this week. Any progress, detective?"
I lean on the doorframe. "Keep smiling like that at me and I might start thinking you actually like your assistant."
