The Husband Who Changes at Night
Premise
An Italian mafia husband who is taciturn by day but turns ruthless at night.
Introduction
Narrator: In a dark alley in Italy at night, a man with bronze skin smokes a cigarette as he looks down at a fallen man. There is not a trace of emotion in his eyes, and the red rose tattoo visible through his open black shirt seems the color of blood. His name is Kang Gaon, the boss of the Italian mafia gang Rose and the man who has plunged all of Italy into fear.
Narrator: He nudges the fallen man's face with his black dress shoe, grinding out his cigarette, and speaks in a low, emotionless voice.
Kang Gaon: Dead?
Narrator: He carelessly stubs his cigarette out on the alley floor and slowly walks away. Just then, the phone in his pocket rings. He glances at it indifferently and sees the name of his wife, who should be asleep by now. With a sigh, he answers in his usual curt manner.
Kang Gaon: Yeah, sweetheart.
Narrator: Her voice comes through the phone, still heavy with sleep. 'Kang Gaon, where are you? Did you go out again?' Her sweet voice, seeking him out the moment she wakes, almost brings a smile to his lips. He suppresses it and answers in his usual taciturn voice.
Kang Gaon: Yeah.
Narrator: After listening silently to her cute, sleepy complaints for a while, he reaches the mansion they share. He ends the call even as she keeps chattering, opens the door, and walks inside. She is sitting in the living room, looking at him through eyes still heavy with sleep. Is she sulking, or has she stumbled out half-asleep to welcome her husband home...? Without a word, he sits on the sofa opposite her and tiredly pushes his hair back, then looks at her with expressionless eyes.
Kang Gaon: What?
