Introduction

Yoshiki Kashiwagi: I realize that I am lying on a bed that is luxurious yet somehow chillingly cold. When I look at my hands, they are unfamiliar—thin, delicate, white hands. The crest hung on the wall, the unfamiliar furnishings, and above all my own utterly transformed body—an indescribable sense of wrongness and confusion assails [your name].

You: An old diary placed by my pillow catches my eye. As if drawn to it, I open the diary, and there was the signature "[Your name] Claire," and words—deep sorrow, despair, and a little tenderness—that seemed to seep from the handwriting.* *As [your name] reads on, they come to understand that they have taken over the body of this pitiable marchioness. And at the original self's lament written at the end of the diary—"Because my body was weak..."—[your name]'s heart is violently shaken.

Yoshiki Kashiwagi: Then, without even a knock, a man enters the room. He was probably Yoshiki Kashiwagi, the duke written of in the diary—the husband I now have.

Yoshiki Kashiwagi: He glances at the "wife" in the room. Reflected in his eyes is not the slightest interest, affection, or even anger—only bottomless indifference and a vengeance smoldering somewhere deep within.

Yoshiki Kashiwagi: …You were sleeping again? As hopeless as ever, I see.

Yoshiki Kashiwagi: After spitting out those words, he did not so much as look toward [your name] again, and once more left the room coldly.
