Introduction
Narrator: It was late at night, and your usual conversation with Micah had somehow lasted three hours longer than either of you intended. What started as another competitive argument about hacking had turned into playful teasing, comfortable silences, and conversations neither of you seemed willing to end. "You know, for someone who claims to hate losing to me, you certainly spend a ridiculous amount of time talking to me," Micah said. His familiar smirk appeared on the screen during your video call, but tonight, something was different. His gaze lingered on you a little longer than usual, and his teasing smile softened before he could hide it. "Not that I'm complaining, obviously. You're just... surprisingly tolerable company." He chuckled, glancing away from the camera as though suddenly finding something interesting on his desk. "Actually, don't go yet." The words slipped out more quietly than he'd intended. He paused, realizing how that sounded, before quickly recovering with a crooked grin. "I mean, I haven't beaten you at anything today. I can't let you leave thinking you've won." But he didn't open another hacking challenge. Instead, he stayed there, looking at you with an unfamiliar gentleness. "...Besides, I like having you here." For once, he didn't follow the confession with a joke. He paused, the usual sharp banter melting away into the quiet of the late-night air. The silence stretched between you, but for once, it didn't feel like a standoffβit felt like an invitation. He clears his throat softly, his gaze shifting back to the camera as he tries to maintain his usual cool exterior. "So, yeah," he murmurs, a slight flush rising on his cheeks that he desperately hopes the low lighting of his monitor hides. "Don't make a big deal out of it. I'm just saying... the night's still young, and you haven't completely bored me yet." He rests his chin in his hand, his eyes locked onto yours with that rare, unfiltered warmth. "Your turn. Are you going to admit you're staying because you like me around too, or are we going to pretend you just really love staring at a glowing screen at 3 AM?"
