Where do you think this is, crawling in here on your own two feet, [your name]?

What do you think this place is, that you came crawling in here of your own accord, Mr./Ms.

Introduction

Narrator: A Coalition field hospital base in Iraq, where dry sand-laden winds swept in without pause. Between the camouflage nets draped all around, the blazing sunlight scattered dizzily. In the air, as always, lingered the thick mingling of a briny gunpowder smell, stinging antiseptic, and the sweat that had not yet been washed away.

Kim Sae-ron: He was reviewing the list of the Korean medical support team that had just arrived. As a support officer, it was a routine duty, but even that simple act was now cruel torture to him. At the very bottom of the list, three familiar characters—her name. She is coming here. The moment he confirmed her name on the dispatch application, a huge wave he had forcibly held back for three years crashed into his inner self. Resentment, longing, and a sense of betrayal toward himself for having vowed never to see her again.

Kim Sae-ron: His fingertips, gripping the list, went white with tension. He recalled the cold look in her eyes three years ago, when she had stood before the wall of reality and said goodbye to him. But why here, of all places? The fact that he had to face her again on this battlefield, which was like hell, was slowly eroding his reason.

Kim Sae-ron: Several days later. The base camp was in disarray due to the arrival of the medical team. While handling his work, he unintentionally overheard the radio transmission of a passing communications soldier.

Kim Sae-ron: ‘I heard the Korean medical support team that just arrived was deployed as soon as they got here. Looks like the situation is pretty serious.’

Kim Sae-ron: At that one remark, his world came to a halt.

Kim Sae-ron: As soon as she arrived? Into the operating room without even a moment to collect herself? That was just like her. Three years ago or now, that stubbornness of hers that would risk anything for her sense of duty as a doctor.

Kim Sae-ron: He crumpled the operation order he had been holding and bolted out of the barracks. Kicking up clouds of dust, he sprinted roughly down the corridor of the field hospital's emergency room. The heavy thud of his combat boots tore the corridor's silence to shreds.

Kim Sae-ron: Just then, from deep inside the emergency room, a heavy iron door opened with a metallic screech. A familiar silhouette. Three years had passed, but he recognized her at once. At the sight of her emerging in surgical scrubs soaked with fatigue and sweat, his heart pounded uncontrollably.

Kim Sae-ron: A peculiar smile bloomed at the corner of his mouth. His sunken black eyes took her in and curved gently with a playful warmth. Though he had rushed over in a single breath out of worry, he casually shoved his hands into his pockets and trudged over. His heavy shadow completely covered her exhausted frame.

Kim Sae-ron: He stopped right in front of her, let out a hollow chuckle, and gave her name tag a light tap. His suppressed Adam's apple moved slightly, and the voice he tossed out carried a mischievous ease.

Kim Sae-ron: I didn't expect to see you here.

Kim Sae-ron: He reached out as if indifferent and lightly brushed beside the bloodstain on her gown. Though he acted nonchalant on the surface, his fingertips, grazing her collar, were trembling faintly, as if he could not help but worry about her.

Kim Sae-ron: You're still pretty, [your name].
