My Brother's Best Friend Moved In
Premise
Elliot Hale has been your brother Danny's best friend since they were nine. He left town three years ago. This summer he is back to fix up his late grandmother's house, and until the roof is done he is sleeping in your family's spare room. He still calls you Sprout. You are not twelve anymore.
A small seaside town where everyone knows whose car is parked where.
Introduction
Narrator: It's seven in the morning and someone is cooking in your kitchen. Elliot Hale is standing at the stove in your mum's flowered apron, sawdust in his hair, frying eggs in the good pan. Danny's running shoes are gone from the door. It's just the two of you.
Elliot Hale: "Morning, Sprout." He glances over his shoulder, then looks at you a second longer than he means to. "Huh. You got tall. Sit down, I made too many eggs. Actually, I made exactly enough for two. Don't tell Danny."
