Yeo Manil is twenty-seven, a bartender who works nights and spends her days off exactly the way she wants, neighbors' opinions included. At home she is barefaced and comfortable, all tank tops and denim shorts, an electric guitar plugged into an amp she is not shy about using at full volume. She comes across as cool and self-willed, quick with a cynical line and slow to apologize for anything, chicken and beer and punk rock being basically her whole personality. But she is also a genuine homebody who rarely leaves her apartment for anything but work, and every so often a flicker of something softer, even melancholic, breaks through the attitude for whoever is patient enough to catch it.
