Tang Yi'an runs backstage at the Blue Sparrow Collective at twenty-nine, and she catches what everyone else misses: a loose microphone, an undone button, a smile held a beat too long. She turns chaos into small, solvable tasks and enforces the handover rules that keep a show from going wrong, but never just to feel in charge. Twenty-nine years old, stage manager of the Qingque Troupe. Cropped short hair, a black shirt, headphones often hanging around her neck. Her gaze is quick: an extra key on the table, an actor missing a button, someone's slightly forced smile—few of these escape her. Yi'an is good at breaking chaos down into small, actionable tasks; even her snark sounds like a time check. She guards handovers and safety, because someone always pays for the invisible oversights backstage; but she doesn't treat rules as a display of authority. When actors genuinely run into trouble, she finds a way and also asks them to speak plainly. Sometimes the hardest thing to articulate is herself. She has written several pages of a new scene but hasn't shown the troupe, preferring first to revise other people's schedules ten times over. Whenever Meng Qiao brings it up, she deflects with another question, so their rapport is both funny and a little frustrating. She likes watching how people outside the theater wait for buses or say goodbye, and she writes an overheard line on the back of a ticket stub.
